Marty Siebert Memorial Scholarship
Annually, Nixon solicits applications and awards a scholarship to a child of a Team Member. The purpose of the scholarship is to help finance undergraduate or vocational education pursuits.
Last year, Nixon renamed its scholarship in HONOR and memory of Marty Siebert, a Team Member who sadly passed away in 2019. Marty led the Nixon Energy Solutions (NES) division for over 15 years as an executive of the company. Marty exhibited unique and special traits that drove an incredible success oriented and caring teamwork culture. It is fitting that Marty’s memory is associated with a scholarship - investing in Nixon’s future by investing in people; his personality and leadership style aligned with that belief.
Congrats Kaitlyn Songer
Nixon is proud to announce that Kaitlyn Songer is the recipient of this year’s Nixon - Marty Siebert Memorial Scholarship! Kaitlyn is the daughter of Team Member, Will Austin - a premier remote-field technician with the La Vergne Aftermarket group.
Will Austin and his wife express their gratitude by stating, “We are so proud of Kaitlyn and grateful for the opportunity that this scholarship will provide. We can’t wait to see what she becomes. We know that her intelligence, love of travel and heart for people will come together in a big way. Her degree will give her the ability to give back to people less fortunate and have major Kingdom impact. Thanks for giving her this opportunity.”
Kaitlyn graduated from the Girls Preparatory School (Chattanooga, TN) last year and just completed her first year of college at Kennesaw State University (Kennesaw, GA), majoring in biology. She has an impressive academic record and is involved in many extracurricular and civic activities. Kaitlyn enjoys playing sports, hiking, camping, traveling, painting and photography. With the help of this scholarship, Kaitlyn will be able to pursue her dreams.
She states, “I am honored to receive this scholarship. It will help me tremendously as I pursue my Bachelor’s degree in Biology on a pre-dental track. It will allow me to focus on my academics and my goal of being accepted into a prestigious dental school.”
