Nixon Dedicated Services Earns TL 9000/ISO 9001:2000 Certification
TL9000 Certification Positions Nixon in Top-Tier of Global Companies
For Immediate Release: June 3, 2008
ATLANTA, GA – Atlanta-based Nixon Dedicated Services (NDS) has received formal TL9000/ISO 9001:2000 Certification, it was announced recently by QuEST Forum, the developer and global administrator of the TL 9000 Quality Management System designed to meet the the supply chain quality requirements of the worldwide telecommunications industry. In achieving this certification, NDS – a division of Nixon Power Services Company – becomes one of only one hundred seventy-seven (177) U.S. companies to achieve TL 9000 Certification, joining the ranks of companies such as 3M; AT&T; Alcatel-Lucent Technologies; Corning; Motorola; and Sun Microsystems who meet the exacting quality standards of TL/ISO.
The TL 9000 standard is the telecom industry’s unique extension to the ISO 9001:2000 global Quality Management System and includes supplemental ISO requirements, such as the reporting of quality measurement data to a central repository, according to QuEST Forum. As a result, TL 9000 is a two-part quality system with significant management and measurement components over and above all requirements clauses of the International Standards ISO 9001:2000.
“When we began our two-year journey toward TL Certification, TL 9000 was described to us as ISO on steroids," said Nixon President and CEO, Bryant Phillips. “The NDS Team accepted that challenge as but one additional way to continue providing premier-quality Kohler products and Nixon Power services to our telecommunications partners.”
Unlike ISO Certification alone, TL 9000 requires that a company’s Quality Management System (QMS) produce precise metrics for the customer regarding QMS effectiveness, as well as documented evidence of continual process improvement confirmed by regular audits.
According to QuEST Forum, ISO/TS 16949 – an ISO 9001-based standard used by the automotive industry – applies to the design/development, production and, when relevant, installation and servicing of automotive-related products. In contrast, TL 9000 contains unique requirements not present in ISO/TS 16949, including consistent reporting of specific performance measurements for benchmarking purposes.
TL 9000 Certification requires a company demonstrate to an independent registrar the successful implementation of all TL 9000 processes, controls and metrics for a minimum period of 90-days prior to the request for the registrar’s audit. In accordance, NDS has been TL 9000 compliant since late 2007.
